At Cascais sits the Santa Marta Lighthouse which has become a bit of a symbol for the town. In the sheltered bay, we watched the waves crash into the rocks at the feet of the lighthouse from a distance, and with the evening light and the way the palm trees framed the sides of the photograph, I thought about what a calming sight it was, the only sounds you heard were passing vehicles on the main road behind, and the rolling waves.
