There are people that we come across in life, that can sometimes feel like the sun— bringing warmth and light to some of our coldest and darkest days.

But as we enter different stages of life, it’s natural for us to grow apart from those we were once close to. I used to mourn the loss of friendships, but really, what’s the point?

It’s a lot easier to accept that things change as we get older, but always wishing them well in my heart matters a lot more. And while it would be nice if we ever cross paths again, living in different countries can make things a lot less plausible.

And so, I’ve learned, to hold on to those I can, and try to be my own sun.
