As I’m getting older, I feel like I’m learning the worth of protecting my own energy. I used to think I needed to please everyone, and as such, give the best of myself to everyone.

But it took getting older and becoming more certain of myself that I realised not every battle was mine to win.

Especially in a time when it seemed reasoning with people over certain topics the past 2 years felt like a completely futile effort— I think I’d much rather surround myself with people I respect, love and admire at this point. Call it a tool to protect ourselves, but perhaps those that aren’t worth the time don’t deserve the best of you.
